Xtra Mile Recordings are pleased to introduce their latest signing and star in ascendance BEN BROWN.

Today, he releases his first single for the label, ‘Blue’, ahead of a string of support shows with friend and mentor Frank Turner, who produced this track. You can listen to it on all services now.

“Do you sometimes wake up feeling half-past blue?” coos Ben Brown on this winsome, winning debut single.
With shades of Bright Eyes, The Magnetic Fields, Camera Obscura and Death Cab For Cutie, ‘Blue’ is a bittersweet song as delicate as the breaking of a new day and with all the promise it holds. “The grass is sometimes greener, it’s true” he soothes with a rise-and-shine hints of optimism.

Adorned with layers of lush instrumentation, from its sweet string sections and the gentle nudge of its alarm-like synth pulse, to the Beach Boys-esque “ba ba bas” that surround Brown’s gentle lines of encouragement, ‘Blue’ finds that very distinctive kind of magic in melancholy.

Delivered with the lightest of touch and destined to sink into your subconscious, ‘Blue’ marks a stirring lead single for the artist, guaranteed to have any listener waking up on the right side of the bed…

Produced by Frank Turner, the track is one of a four-song EP due to appear in July, with Ben Brown due to support the punk/folk icon across his entire sold out UK tour that month. The full list of dates are as follows:
