The planned demolition at Fareham Borough Council’s Osborn Road Multi Storey car park is now well underway, and work is progressing at pace.

The car park was closed from 2 January and handed over to Neilcott Construction Ltd, to complete the demolition as well as the creation of a new surface level car park. The new Fareham Live car park will feature larger car parking spaces as well as charging points for electric vehicles and additional planting to encourage biodiversity.

This new car park will enhance the aesthetics of the Fareham Live site and will be open in time for the first large performances later this year.

Councillor Seán Woodward, Executive Leader of Fareham Borough Council, said: “Work is progressing ahead of schedule on the demolition of Osborn Road Multi Storey. The new planned surface car park will not only be much more attractive but will be more environmentally friendly with its EV charging points and tree and shrub planting.  I am very much looking forward to seeing the outdated Osborn Road car park gone and this new, more modern alternative in place to serve the town centre and the exciting new Fareham Live.”

Residents are reminded that alternative parking can be found nearby at Fareham Shopping Centre multi storey car park, which leads directly into the shopping centre. A map is available at www.fareham.gov.uk/farehamlive, where residents can also sign up to receive email updates on the venue or become one of the founding sponsors of Fareham Live through the Wave of Thanks sponsorship scheme.
